This week we continue to be looking at the different matches coming up at this weekends Money in the Bank PPV. Today the spotlight will be on the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match between The Usos and The New Day. The graphic below is courtesy of WWE.com.
The Build Up
Since The Usos won the titles from American Alpha back in March, they have been a fun heel tag team to watch. They’ve had multiple defences and have defeated off other teams in a legit manner. Similarly, The New Day, during their title run had multiple defences and defeated off other teams. Bringing these two teams together is going to result in a fun match and will make for an interesting title match. As a result, this title match is the least predictable of the other matches on the card.
What would happen if The Usos retained?
It would be another notch on the bedpost for The Usos to keep their claim going as a strong tag team unit. The Usos pinning The New Day, regardless of who is representing them, will be a major win. It will put them over against a credible tag team, one of which there isn’t really on SmackDown currently at the moment. The Usos could then go on and dominate SmackDown until SummerSlam, before a title change on the main stage.
What would happen if The New Day won?
Part of me would be really happy. I think The New Day are a breath of fresh air within WWE and are insanely over with the crowd. If The New Day were to win it brings back some fun and happiness from to SmackDown. From then on more feuds can come to light. That, plus New Day antics would be good to watch again.
How should it be booked?
It depends on who is going to go over. If The Usos are to retain, then heelish tactics are needed for sure. Distraction or disqualification works for me. Either way, The New Day need to have validity in coming up short against them. On the other hand, if The New Day win then they can’t do it by fluke. Has to be a clear win. All I know that this is going to be unpredictable, fun and enjoyable to watch.
